Our Core Values

We believe that every individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

We believe all individuals can change and that such change is best facilitated within a relationship of trust, respect, concern and knowledge.

We believe in working with the strengths of an individual and using these strengths to overcome those areas of weakness that limit personal fulfillment.

We believe that there is a better future ahead for those who face and overcome the trials and tribulations that occur in every life.

We believe that every person is unique and that every solution will be unique as well. We will serve as a catalyst for change, change that will be accelerated by developing a relationship of understanding.

Dr. George Pugh, Ph. D., R. Psych., Registered Psychologist, with over 30 years of experience offers solution-focused brief therapy for adults and adolescents. He has developed a unique approach to not only gaining an understanding of the core problems that prevent personal growth but has also developed strategies that address these deeper issues. When core problems are acknowledged a sense of relief occurs. When the healing strategies are implemented, a new sense of self, personal acceptance and self-esteem begins to emerge. Once these two stages are completed the client experiences a new sense of integration and is ready to leave treatment and move forward to higher levels of functioning in their personal life. Dr. George Pugh is currently writing a book describing the principles of Iconic Therapy and explaining the Healing Journey to Personal Freedom.

Dia duit agus Céad Míle Fáilte (Hello and a Hundred Thousand Welcomes).

Each of us has our own unique life experiences and I believe that our ability to navigate our lives requires an appreciation of those experiences and the different difficulties we might face. The root cause of these difficulties could be related to many factors, such as our past or current experiences, and at times, we may need additional supports or just a person outside our social circle to help us in a friendly and safe space.

Having worked with people of all ages, using a variety of techniques, I feel that genuine connections are the foundation of effective therapy. That connection has already started here, and I encourage you to continue reading my profile to see if I am the right person for you!

I am a Registered Psychologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and I have worked in the human services profession for 13 years. My journey to achieving these credentials has been a long road and has given me experience in going through the hardships that we all must face in our lives. I attended university in the National University of Ireland Maynooth and Queens University Belfast, both prestigious universities in Ireland, and courses/programs through Walden University and Concordia University of Edmonton to achieve my goal of being a Psychologist.

I have been fortunate enough to support children and their families, and adults of all ages, with a wide variety of needs. These supports have included people with developmental or intellectual challenges, learning issues, autism, anxiety, ADHD, depression, OCD tendencies, grief, and various other socio-emotional and behavioural needs. I have also experience providing these supports across a variety of settings, including residential services, in-home services, private clinics, schools, and community based services.

I like to use an eclectic approach to therapy, which means that I often integrate many aspects of different techniques into therapy (e.g., Behaviour Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, etc.). I feel that this is the right approach as people are multi-faceted and there can be many factors that affect a person's wellbeing.

I think effective therapy is fostered through genuine connections with people, where the therapist is not only empathetic, but also sensitive and responsive to a person's needs at a given moment during therapy. This may be an easy or a daunting decision for you, but in either case, I assure you that support will be provided to you in a safe and non-judgemental space so that you can feel comfortable space in sharing your life experiences with me. Together, we can support you to continue being the expert in your life's journey.

If you feel that I would be a good fit for you please reach out to me with your questions.
